MI New York had earlier set a formidable target of 237/4, thanks to a blistering, unbeaten century from captain Nicholas Pooran (108 off 60 balls) and a rapid 95 from Tajinder Dhillon (35 balls).

Despite the high score, the Orcas' bowlers, including Gerald Coetzee and Kyle Mayers (two wickets each), managed to restrict the flow of runs somewhat.

Seattle's chase began shakily, with early wickets falling in the powerplay. However, a counterattack led by Kyle Mayers (37 off 20) and Sikandar Raza (30 off 9) briefly put the Orcas back on track. Heinrich Klaasen also contributed with a quick 26 off 13 before being dismissed.

Then came the Hetmyer show.

With the required run rate escalating, Hetmyer unleashed a barrage of boundaries, finishing with an unbeaten 97 off just 40 balls, including 5 fours and 9 sixes. His remarkable strike rate of 242.50 kept the Orcas in contention.

The tension reached its peak on the final ball, with five runs needed for victory. Facing MI New York's captain Kieron Pollard, Hetmyer delivered, flicking the ball over fine leg for a six that sparked joyous celebrations in the Seattle camp.

Hetmyer, named Player of the Match, said, "This one is one of the best, because our backs were against the wall... Today is one of those days, where I went with a clear mind and wanted to take the game as deep as possible."
