The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is still working to determine the optimal window for the tournament. Details such as the number of participating teams are also yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues are increasingly significant as scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra are already providing crucial platforms for local talent, offering them visibility and a pathway to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
