Smriti Mandhana, the dynamic batter from Team India, has carved her name into cricket history by becoming the first Indian woman cricketer to achieve centuries in all three international formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
This remarkable accomplishment occurred during the first T20I match between India Women and England Women at Trent Bridge. Mandhana delivered a breathtaking innings, scoring 112 runs off just 62 balls.
Leading as captain, Mandhana demonstrated exceptional leadership with a dominant performance that included 15 boundaries and three impressive sixes. Her aggressive yet controlled innings propelled India to a commanding total of 210/5 in 20 overs – their highest-ever T20I score against England.
Mandhana's milestone century was also her first in T20Is, completing a rare feat that no other Indian woman batter had achieved before. Her century established a strong foundation early in the innings, blending elegance with power, particularly as she effectively countered England's leading spinners, such as Sophie Ecclestone, with daring strokeplay.
Valuable contributions also came from Harleen Deol (43 off 23) and Deepti Sharma (7 not out off 3), as India maintained a high run rate throughout their innings. Lauren Bell was the most successful of England’s bowlers, claiming three wickets, but the damage had already been done.
Mandhana's achievement places her among an elite group of cricketers, both male and female, who have scored centuries in all three formats of the game. This milestone is not only a defining moment in her career but also a significant milestone for Indian women’s cricket, inspiring a new generation of cricketers to pursue ambitious goals and overcome obstacles.
With this dominant performance, Mandhana has reaffirmed her position as the face of Indian women’s cricket – a consistent, fearless, and record-breaking athlete.
