Jofra Archer has been included in the England squad for the second Test match against India, marking his return to the Test arena after a significant absence.
The 30-year-old Archer is set to potentially make his first Test appearance since February 2021 when the second Test begins at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 2nd. This will be an opportunity for him to add to his current tally of 13 Test caps.
Archer's return to red-ball cricket came in a recent County Championship match for Sussex against Durham. His last Test match was also against India in 2021, after which he faced a series of injury setbacks, including a back stress fracture. These injuries kept him out of regular play until 2024, when he made his comeback in white-ball cricket in May of the same year.
The rest of the England squad remains unchanged from the first Test in Leeds, where the home side secured a five-wicket victory.
The remaining three Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 series will take place at Lord's (July 10-14), Old Trafford in Manchester (July 23-27), and The Oval (July 31-August 4).
England Squad for 2nd Test:
Ben Stokes (C), Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
